Early Learning Centre (ELC) was established in 1974 by John Beale, who was inspired by his children to create a toy business that would enhance children’s development through play. In collaboration with a child psychologist, the company created toys and books with clear educational value and opened their first shop in Reading, England with a mail-order department. ELC quickly became a much loved and trusted brand by families worldwide and now has over 300 stores across the globe. The Entertainer acquired ELC in 2019 with a clear vision; to support children’s learning and development through play worldwide. The Entertainer continues to bring innovation to new product design for ELC, creating quality timeless toys to inspire learning through play.
