October 18 -20: SEATA takes part in US-ASEAN Business Council Mission to Indonesia
During this mission, SEATA members had the chance to engage the ASEAN Secretary General, H.E. Le Luong Minh, Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology, ASEAN Humanitarian Assistance, Minister of Planning and Investment, Governor Ahok of Jakarta, Minister of Industry, Minister of Trade and the Minister of Finance.
For the meeting with the ASEAN Secretariat, the Secretary General looked forward to cooperate further with SEATA on ASEAN capacity building on standardization. SEATA’s engagement with the Indonesia government also helped them understand how our members could contribute to the development of the country. Areas of discussion include how our members can help enhancing creativity and innovation in educational curriculum, expertise in standardization for toy products, expertise in shaping an Indonesia SDG agenda that is inclusive of Early Childhood Development.
SEATA also engaged the Ministry of Industry on the local SNI standards and urged the Ministry to relook these processes. The Ministry of Trade also invited SEATA to conduct a capacity building workshop that will bring together experts.
