September 28: SEATA organizes industry workshop in Jakarta

The workshop, held on September 28, served as a very successful platform for SEATA to establish itself as a leading source of knowledge about the toy industry. It was attended by more than 40 participants from relevant ministries, testing labs, manufacturers, industry associations, and standardization bodies.

Presentations given by Kaufman and Wetterberg gave a comprehensive look at Indonesia’s toy industry and compared the standardization processes in five ASEAN countries. It was followed by a moderated group discussion which allowed participants to debate current regulations, voice challenges, and consider possible solutions. Representatives from key government ministries voiced their openness to inputs on policy changes, and all participants agreed that SEATA should continue organizing similar workshops as part of its capacity-building efforts with regulators and industry associations.
