Intellectual Property & Brand Protection

ATPA champions the protection of intellectual property rights (IPR) as a critical pillar of a trusted and sustainable toy industry. Counterfeit toys not only erode brand value — they also pose serious safety risks to children. We work with enforcement authorities, industry alliances, and regional platforms to help members protect their brands and ensure a level playing field.

Our Focus Areas:

  • Support for Brand Owners
ATPA provides tailored guidance to members facing IP infringement issues in the region. This includes navigating customs recordal procedures, providing contact points for enforcement agencies, and advising on best practices to strengthen IP portfolios and packaging protections.
  • Enforcement Collaboration
We work closely with customs authorities, police units, and IP offices across Asia to improve border enforcement and market surveillance. ATPA organizes training sessions and co-develops guidance materials with authorities to help frontline officers distinguish between genuine and counterfeit products.
  • Participation in REACT Asia
As an active supporter of the REACT Asia network, ATPA helps coordinate toy-sector-specific enforcement actions and intelligence-sharing initiatives across Southeast Asia and China. This allows members to benefit from collective enforcement efforts and joint raids against high-risk counterfeit networks.

Through these initiatives, ATPA ensures that toy brands — whether global licensors or local innovators — can grow and thrive in Asia’s markets without the threat of IP infringement undermining safety, trust, or business value.
